“Orica launched Thursday at the Malta AI & Blockchain Summit and announced its collaboration with an NGO to drop NFTs on its platform and use those funds to build a school in Uganda.”
‘A Fairer World’ was Orica’s launch collection of social impact NFTs, which dropped 18th November 2021 and sold out within two weeks.
For this exclusive collection, Orica connected renowned digital artist Mellowmann with the Ugandan NGO Bbanga Project. Every NFT sale from the Orica x Bbanga x Mellowmann collection funded the building of a new school on The Ssese Islands, Uganda.
With primary sales of more than $12k, the collection smashed it’s fundraising target.
Inspiration from the natural world and symbolism of Uganda
Mellowmann is a digital artist, designer and art director working from East Germany. His art is a ‘subconscious playground’, where he summons lush colors and harmonic chaos to celebrate our universal ‘inner child’. Mellowmann is already collected by industry names like Dima Buterin, and is widely regarded as an NFT artist to watch.
Mellowmann took inspiration for this collection from the natural world and cultural symbolism of Uganda, which blended with the philosophical concepts of love and lightheartedness as, for Mellowmann, these hold the realm of the inner child. Mellowmann asks us to find ourselves within the worlds he creates.
